Belay Toolbox
Belay Toolbox: Great Tools Mean Great Possibilities

Belay utilises a broad range of Microsoft and custom tooling to deliver quality products and services to our clients. We believe that selecting the most appropriate tool to enable any project is essential to delivering scalable and reliable solutions.

1. ASP.Net:

Programming libraries used to create Internet application on the .Net Framework.

2. Belay Development Framework:

Our framework consists of a library of .Net code and code generators that allow developers to rapidly create stable and reliable applications on any platform. We aim to provide the developer with time to focus on business-related issues and not on system configuration, data communication and other plumbing-related problems.

3. Helpdesk:

Belay can configure helpdesk solutions to enable customised support on a range of platforms including HEAT, HPOV, etc.

4. ITIL:

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) defines the structure and skill requirements of an information technology organisation. The framework recommends a set of supplier-independent, operational management procedures and best practices that apply to all aspects within IT.

5. Microsoft Expression Blend:

The development environment used by user experience experts to rapidly create rich client applications.

6. Microsoft Expression Design:

The design environment used by user experience experts to create and design graphic parts of web and Internet applications.

7. Microsoft Expression Web:

The development environment used by user experience experts to rapidly create rich Internet applications.

8. Microsoft SQL Server CE:

A compact edition of Microsoft SQL Server used mainly on mobile devices and which come standard with synchronisation services to a full SQL Server.

9. Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010:

Team Foundation Server is the integrated application lifecycle environment used to monitor and control all activities in the application lifecycle. For testing, this includes integrating user requirements with test cases and bugs, running automated testing against code bases, and tracking of and reporting on the progress of testing.

10. Microsoft Test Manager 2010:

With Microsoft Test Manager professionals can create test plans, suites, configurations, and cases with individual test steps. Test cases can be run with the result of each step recorded. The tester benefits from the ability to gather diagnostic information when running tests and automatically adding the information to a bug. The tester can also collect details of the actions that are performed when running a manual test case. These details can then be used to fast forward manual testing.

11. Microsoft Visual Studio 2010:

Using Visual Studio 2010 as the development environment, developers are quickly able to leverage Microsoft .Net Framework and develop rich client, Internet, mobile and Business Intelligence applications.

12. MSMQ Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ):

MSMQ Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) provides a secure asynchronous delivery mechanism of data from a source to one or multiple destinations.

13. Net Mobile:

An extensive Microsoft .net library that allows developers to easily create mobile applications on any platform.

14. Silverlight:

A .net library used to create rich Internet applications, from data driven business applications to graphically intensive applications.

15. SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS):

The ability to transform corporate data into meaningful and actionable information is vital for businesses. With SSIS, organisations can rely on data integration technologies to provide meaningful, reliable information to maintain a competitive advantage in today’s business world.

16. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS):

SSRS provides a complete, server-based platform designed to support a wide variety of reporting needs enabling organisations to deliver relevant information where needed across the entire enterprise. The various features help create, deploy, and manage reports for the organisation, as well as programming features that enable organisations to extend and customise their reporting functionality.

17. Transact –SQL (T-SQL):

T-SQL is a language used to communicate with relational databases. The language defines operations for inserting, deleting, retrieving and updating information organised in tables inside a database. T-SQL is also used for managing database. Additionally, T-SQLis Microsoft's enhanced version of the Structured Query Language (SQL) that includes transaction control, exception handling, error handling, row processing, and more. SQL Server applications use T-SQL statements to communicate with the database server.

18. Visual Basic.Net/C# :

Programming languages of the .Net Framework.

19. WIKI:

Wikipedia is applied as the platform that allows people to actively build and analyze the organisation knowledge base, which can later be used to make informative technical decisions.

20. Windows Communication Foundation:

Microsoft’s Windows Communication foundation is a communication .Net library that allows developers to easily get systems to communicate. The library takes care of many of the plumbing issues like managing transaction states, incomplete message delivery and different receiver and sender technologies. This allows developers to focus on business-related issues and not on the mechanics of the message, saving cost and time.

21. Windows Presentation Foundation:

Windows Presentation Foundation is a .Net library designed to harness the power of ActiveX giving the developer tools to be able to create graphically rich applications for the desktop.

22. Windows WorkFlow Foundation:

A graphical rapid application development library that allows users to design and write workflows that can be plugged into business applications.

23. Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010:

A Microsoft platform with advanced capabilities around collaboration and publishing e.g. web portals, web sites, content management, complex search, blogs and Business Intelligence.

24. BizTalk:

An Enterprise Service Bus toolkit that makes use of various adapters to allow different software to communicate. Communication is automated and is built on Microsoft’s Windows Communication Foundation to ensure message delivery and management.

25. Microsoft Office:

A desktop office suite with numerous capabilities e.g. word processing, spreadsheet and presentations. Office can integrate to many custom and off-the-shelf applications enabling the user to utilise familiar tools.

26. Power Pivot

A collection of applications and services that provide an end-to-end solution for creating and sharing business intelligence using Microsoft Office Excel and SharePoint.

27. Mentorship Methodology

A prescribed approach aligned with Microsoft best practices to ensure a stable SQL Server environment with proactive support and management processes. The main aim of this program is to continually provide feedback, and guide and empower the relevant role players.

28. SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

Provides a platform to design, create, and manage multi-dimensional structures that contain detail and aggregated data from multiple data sources in a single unified logical model supported by built-in calculations, as well as providing fast, intuitive, top-down analysis of large quantities of data.

29. DbScout

An in-house monitoring and profiling tool used for performance- and trend analysis, as well as capacity planning.

30. SQL Server

An industry strength, high performance database management system scalable from a handheld device up to huge data centre implementations handling terabytes of data. SQL Server forms the backbone of every application and provides features such as high availability, distributed processing and extensive transaction control.
