Founded in 2000 by Vincent Coetzee and Koos Bester, the company takes its name from Vincent’s passion for rock climbing.

What is a Belay?

The Belay Device is a safety device used in Rock Climbing. This is a mechanical piece of climbing equipment used to control a rope during belaying.

Belay devices are designed to improve the safety for the climber allowing them to focus on reaching the top. When you “belay”, you literally hold your partner's life in your hands. You become the “Belayer”.

Given the nature of the business, the name Belay seemed entirely appropriate for an organisation committed to being a rock-solid partner.

Our Evolution

As a company, Belay, a lot like technology, has evolved since 2000. As the company grew, our clients increasingly demanded more sophisticated services. From its modest beginnings with a small group of highly skilled and passionate individuals in a single office, to now having over 150 employees, Belay has evolved into one of the most experienced providers of IT infrastructure solutions in South Africa.
